Zap - Price Comparison Zap - Price Comparison, mobile view

If you check prices on Zap before you buy, we've probably met through the screen. I've had the privilege of designing the country's biggest shopping site, and even after years of working together, there's something exciting about knowing your design is part of how so many Israelis shop.

The need

Zap is a brand we all know, but behind the simple question "what should I buy?" lies a whole world of products, prices, stores and reviews.

The challenge is to organise all of this into a clear, intuitive experience that suits users with different needs and levels of knowledge. To help everyone find the information that matters to them, understand the differences between the options and move on to buying with confidence.

My work

In an ongoing collaboration with Zap's product team, I am responsible for the site's interface design and user experience, from thinking and specification to the smallest design details.

Over the years we have studied how visitors behave, spotted trends, explored use cases and run usability tests. The insights turn into information architecture, clear user flows and a visual hierarchy that helps people find, compare and choose.

It is work of constant learning and improvement, where every design decision has to serve both the users and the product's business goals.

The design challenges

Bringing order to information. Arranging a huge range of products, specs, prices and reviews into a clear hierarchy, so users can find their way and quickly reach what matters to them.

Turning comparison into a decision. Helping users see the differences between products and offers, understand what fits their needs and move on to buying without getting lost in the data.

Fitting the experience to desktop and mobile. Keeping rich information accessible and clear on small screens too, with careful thought about the order of content and the flow of use.

Renewing without losing the familiar. Continuing to develop a product people already know, while keeping a consistent design language and a natural experience.

See it live

Enough talk, your turn. Visit Zap, search for a product, compare prices and see how design and user experience meet you right before you buy.

What I take with me from the project

After years of working on a product used by so many people, I have learned there are no small design decisions. Every change in the interface can affect how people understand information, make decisions and take action.

That experience, together with curiosity, product thinking and the ability to see the big picture without missing the small details, is what I bring to every project.

Google review

I've been working with Liran for a while, and honestly, it's one of the best connections I've had with a designer. Liran is a designer and a developer, and you feel it in every conversation. He quickly understands the business need and knows how to turn it into a solution that both looks good and works. When he designs something, he already knows how it will be built. He always comes with a new idea or a tool we didn't know yet, and when we get stuck on a problem, he's the first to look for a way to solve it. He pays attention to every small detail, and what he commits to, he delivers. And beyond all that, Liran is a wonderful person to talk to. You can simply consult and talk with him, and when you work together, it's a must. His experience saves us a lot of time, and you can see he does it from the heart. Zap's users may not know it, but behind much of what they see on the site stands Liran. Liran, a huge thank you!
